Terms of service
By using pikowl.com, you agree to these terms. They're written plainly and should take about five minutes to read.
1. The service
Pikowl is a free collection of browser-based utilities — calculators, converters, generators, and similar tools — operated by Abhishek from Bengaluru, India. Tools run client-side in your browser. There is no user account, no login, and no paid tier at the time of writing.
2. Use of the tools
You may use Pikowl for personal, educational, or commercial purposes, free of charge. You agree not to:
- Use automated scrapers, crawlers, or bots that place a disproportionate load on the site
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, security controls, or hosting infrastructure
- Reverse-engineer or modify the site for the purpose of creating a substantially identical competing service
- Use the tools to process content you don't have the legal right to process
- Use the tools in a way that violates applicable law in your jurisdiction
3. Calculators are not professional advice
This is important. Many of Pikowl's tools touch areas where the consequences of a wrong number are real — finance, health, taxes, legal documents. Pikowl's calculators are informational tools, not advice.
- Finance and tax calculators (income tax, GST, EPF, SIP, home loan, etc.) use published formulas and publicly available rates, but are not a substitute for a qualified chartered accountant, tax advisor, or financial planner. Tax rules, interest rates, and regulations change frequently.
- Health calculators (BMI, BMR, calorie, body fat, pregnancy-related) are informational and not medical advice. Consult a physician for anything clinical.
- Legal and administrative tools (document templates, pincode lookups, deed calculators) are references, not legal advice. Consult a qualified lawyer for anything binding.
Before acting on any calculation from this site, verify the result and consult a professional.
4. Accuracy and availability
We work hard to keep the tools accurate and the site available, but Pikowl is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind — express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Tools may be taken offline for maintenance or corrections without notice.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pikowl and its operator are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the site. This includes (without limitation) lost profits, lost data, or decisions made on the basis of a tool's output.
If a court finds this limitation unenforceable, total liability for any claim shall not exceed ₹1,000 (approximately USD 12).
6. Intellectual property
The Pikowl name, brand, site design, copy, and compiled site are the property of its operator. You are welcome to link to Pikowl freely. For embedding tools on your own site, use the "Embed this tool" button provided on each tool page where available.
7. Third-party content and links
Pikowl may link to third-party sites (npm, GitHub, reference sources) and, in future, may display advertising and affiliate links. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites. Clicking a sponsored link or ad does not mean we endorse the advertiser.
8. Privacy
Use of the site is also governed by our privacy policy, which explains what little data is collected and how it's handled.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may change over time. Material changes will be announced by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of India — including the Information Technology Act 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 — without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka.
